Learn how to make the most of the various options available in Test Suite View.
Upon opening a Test Suite, the view displays the Test Cases associated with the Test Suite. The Test Cases are located in the central section of the view, as indicated below.
The areas surrounding the Test Suite provides various options to interact with the Test Suite and utilize Innoslate’s features for it. The 3 main sections surrounding the Test Suite are:
- Left Sidebar
- Top Toolbar
- Right Sidebar
Left Sidebar
The left sidebar has two tabs the Filter tab, for filtering the Test Suite, and a Test Cycles tab to refer to previous Test Cycles.
Filter Tab
The Filter Tab allows users to customize the display of the Test Suite based on their selected criteria. By utilizing class options and/or labels, users can easily filter and view the Test Suite according to their specific needs. The top section to show all entities, Test Cases or any other class that is a child of Test Case (if the schema was user modified).
In the second portion, users can filter the Test Suite based on their preferred label. It is important to note that the circled 'AND' can be replaced with 'OR' or 'AND' depending on the user's needs.
Test Cycles
The Test Cycles Tab on the left sidebar provides users with the ability to easily navigate to a prevously saved Test Cycle or the latest version of the Test Suite. This allows users to track changes and compare different Test Cycles of the Test Suite.
When a Test Cycle is created, the Test Cycle can be found under 'Test Cycles' on the Test Cycles Tab of the left sidebar, as pointed out with the red arrow. To navigate to the current version of the Test Suite, users will want to click on the Test Suite link in the red box, below Main Test Suite.
Minimization & Drag and Drop with the Right Sidebar
The right sidebar provides the ability to visualize the hierarchy of the Test Suite and rearrange entities by dragging and dropping them. Users can also expand or collapse the children of parent entities within the Test Suite or on the right sidebar.
In the image below, the expand/collapse buttons are circled and the drag and drop feature is indicated on the right sidebar with a red arrow.
Top Toolbar
Following the image from left to right, the top toolbar allows users to go 'Back' to the previous page visited before navigating to the Test Suite.
The Blue 'New Test Case' option allows users to add a new Test Case or subclass of Test Case, if a user modified a subclass of Test Case. Note the blue arrow dropdown button allows users to select the class desired, or add an existing entity.
The 'Open' option allows users to see their Test Suite in another view. Note, if a specific Test Suite is selected, the Open option will open that entity up into the applicable view.
The 'More' options allows users to utilize feautres such as Auto Number, Create a New Test Cycle, Reset a Test Cycle, Acronym Extractor and Find and Replace.
'Reports' allows users to output their Test Suite into various formats such as DOCX, XLSX and XML or INNO. For more detailed info on Test Suite reports, please click here.
Document and Entity Specifications
The main Test Suite area allows users to select a specific Test Case. When a Test Case is selected in the Test Suite, the left sidebar and top tool bar will automatically adjust, allowing modifications to that entity.
There are four tabs available on the left sidebar to allow modifications to the selected Test Case in this view. These tabs include the Metadata tab, Attributes tab, Relationships tab, and Comments tab.
Note, hovering over the top of the tabs will reveal a small arrow, enabling the ability to rearrange the tabs between the left and right sidebars.
The toolbar provides options to add a parent Test Case or child Test Case (the other options are explained further on this page).
To click out of a Test Case, click on the 'Deselect' button on the top toolbar.
Or simply move on to the next entity by clicking on it within the document to modify it.
Document Save
Once changes have been made to entities in the document, simply click on the 'Save' button, or 'Cancel' if needed, to save the modifications.
Note, the 'Save' or 'Cancel' buttons will only appear if changes have been made and have pressed 'Deselect.'
