Update to Innoslate Enterprise 4.13

This guide provides instructions for updating your Innoslate Enterprise installation to version 4.13.

Choose the Correct Path Based on Your Current Version

1. Option 1: If you are currently on 4.12.3

   1. You can use the automatic updater for a simple in-place update.

1. Option 2: If you are currently on 4.12.1 or earlier

   1. There is no automatic updater available for jumping to 4.13. You must perform a fresh installation of 4.13 and use the streamlined method to preserve your existing configurations.

Option 1: Updating from 4.12.3 (Using the Updater)

1. Download the latest 4.13 updater: 4.13 Enterprise Updater (click to download automatically)

   1. Ensure you have Administrator privileges on the machine.

2. Stop the Innoslate4 service (run C:\Innoslate4\utilities\stop_innoslate_service.cmd).

3. Right-click the updater executable and select Run as administrator.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

5. Restart the Innoslate4 service (via C:\Innoslate4\utilities\restart_innoslate_service.cmd).

6. Verify the update by accessing Innoslate and checking the version on the bottom from the login screen.

7. Continue to Post Update Steps.

Option 2: Updating from 4.12.1 or Earlier

Since the updater is not compatible across the major 4.12 upgrade, follow the standard 4.13 installation process while bypassing the setup wizard to retain your existing settings.

1. Backup your current installation (including database, settings.properties, and any custom Tomcat configurations such as SSL or port configurations).

2. Before proceeding, uninstall any Java versions earlier than Java 21 (e.g., Java 8, Java 11, etc.) that may be present on your machine. Multiple or outdated Java installations can cause compatibility issues.

3. Uninstall the previous Innoslate version (recommended for a clean install).

4. Download the Innoslate Enterprise 4.13.0.1 Installer: 4.13 Enterprise Installer

5. Run the 4.13.0.1 installer as Administrator.

6. Proceed through the wizard until the end, then uncheck "Launch Innoslate Setup" before finishing.

   1. Stopping the Innoslate4 service.

   2. Delete new settings.properties file located at C:\Innoslate4\apache-tomcat\webapps\innoslate4\WEB-INF.

   3. Placing your existing (validated) settings.properties file in the WEB-INF file.

   4. Applying any custom Tomcat configurations (e.g., to server.xml or web.xml located at C:\Innoslate4\apache-tomcat\conf).

   5. Restart the service and verifying access.

   6. Continue to Post-Update Steps. 

Post-Update Steps (For All Users)

1. Clear your browser cache or use an incognito window to avoid caching issues.

2. Test key features (login, database connectivity, diagrams, etc.).

3. Review logs in C:\Innoslate4\apache-tomcat\logs for any errors.

If using SAML for authentication, verify configurations as Java 21 requires updates:
