Exploring the Rich Text Field Features (v4.10 and before)
In Innoslate version 4.10 (and earlier versions), users have access to HTML/Rich Text Formatting features in fields such as the Entity Description Field, Comments Field, Change Request Field, and Wiki Widget. If a field in Innoslate displays the designated header described below, it means that this formatting is supported.
Let's delve into the wide range of options available in these fields in more detail. To access these features, users must be working within a Rich Text field. Lastly, note that depending on the user's screen size , browser window size, and magnification within the browser, users may need to adjust their browser window to view all the options in these Rich Text Format fields.
Undo/Redo
Innoslate users can utilize the 'Undo' button to revert a text modification after making a modification.
Utilize the 'Redo' button to restore text modifications that were undone .
Insert
The '+' dropdown is the insert button allowing users to insert the following into the field:
Link, Image, Table, Diagram, Chart, Entity Notation, Table Notation, Horizontal Rule. Each option and behavior when selected will be reviewed below.
Link
The 'Link' option enables users to add a URL to the Rich Text field. Users can replace the actual URL with their desired text in the text field. This allows for a more user-friendly and customized experience when adding links to the field.
Image
When users select 'Image' from the 'Insert' dropdown, a pop-up will appear that allows Innoslate users to either drag and drop the image file or click on the field above to access their computer's file directory to select the desired image.
Table
To create a table in Innoslate, simply select 'Table' from the 'Insert' dropdown. A pop-up window will appear, giving users the option to specify the number of rows and columns they want. They can either manually enter the desired number or use the up and down arrows for selection. This makes it easy to customize and structure tables within the field.
Diagram
When the 'Diagram' option is chosen from the 'Insert' button, Innoslate users can insert a diagram from within the same Innoslate project into the Rich Text Fields. The popup above appears so users can select the diagram type then the diagram's target entity. The target entity dropdown will recall the root entity of diagrams. Select the root entity of the diagram to insert that diagram. Please note that the diagram is a dynamic snapshot and will automatically update to reflect any changes made to the diagram.
Chart
When the 'Chart' option is chosen from the 'Insert' button, Innoslate users can insert a chart from within the same Innoslate project into the Rich Text Fields. The popup above appears so users can select the chart type then the chart's target entity. The target entity dropdown will recall the root entity of charts in the project. Select the root entity of the chart to insert that chart. Please note, inserting charts are not live and will not automatically update.
Entity Notation
Selecting 'Entity Notation' in the 'Insert' dropdown allows users to insert text data from an entity within the project in the corresponding field. Upon selecting the target entity as shown above, the dropdown will change to reflect the chosen entity's attributes and metadata for users to select from (below image). This is live data and will automatically update to reflect any changes made to the entity's data selected.
Table Notation
When users select 'Table Notation', they can create a table of entities from within the project and select those entity's metadata and/or attributes. The pop up allows users to preview their table before inserting into the field. This data is live and will reflect changes as they happen.
Horizontal Rule
Selecting 'Horizontal Rule' from the 'Insert' dropdown allows users to break up their fields with a light gray horizontal line. Users can utilize the 'View Source' option in this field to change its color.

AI Assistant
The AI Assistant (powered by ChatGPT) is readily available for Innoslate users in the Rich Text Format fields. When you click on the AI Assistant a popup will appear in the lower right hand of the screen for users to ask it questions. Do note, pulling up the AI Assistant from a field will bring the text content from the field into the AI Assistant chat box.
Text Formatting and Styling
This section will provide a more detailed explanation of the options depicted below.
Innoslate users have the ability to format and style their text in Rich Text Fields. Users can bold (B), italicize (I), and underline (U) their text, as well as strikethrough, and create superscript and subscript.
Additional formatting choices are available such as aligning text, adjusting indentation, creating bulleted and numbered lists, selecting text sizes, and choosing fonts and highlight colors.
Table Formatting
Users have the ability to format their tables inside Rich Text Fields. The 'Table' dropdown offers options to insert and delete rows, columns, heading row and delete the table.
View Source
The last option in the Rich Text Fields within Innoslate provides users the option to view the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) of the field for modifications.
