To indicate a physical action/manipulation needed from an Operator on a specific device (i.e. button, steering control, etc.), Sopatra allows for an Input Devices file upload, which can be either a .docx or .txt file.

Formatting

The Input Devices file formatting is very simple. Add each of the phrases you wish to capture as Input Devices to a .docx or .txt file, each on its own separate line. Upload this file with the SOP when running Sopatra to add the Input Devices.

Note: Each phrase is case-insensitive; however, to capture ‘Brake Pedal’ and the plural ‘Brake Pedals’, both phrases must be added to the Input Devices file.

Using the Input Devices file in the image at the top of the page and the SOP above, Sopatra generates an action diagram with the branches and Procedures for the two Actors explicitly stated in the SOP; however, there is also a third branch ‘Automation Input Device’. This branch contains a Procedure that receives an I/O of the same Input Device name to indicate to the Operator that some action needs to be performed on the Input Device in this SOP step, which in this instance is ‘Thrust Lever’.

Adding Input Devices to your Sopatra SOP model is as simple as that! To assist with this in the SOP development process, Sopatra automatically loads a list of aviation-related Input Devices, which include the six (6) in the image at the top of this page.
