Accessing the Innoslate License ID

Your guide to accessing your Innoslate License ID for Innoslate Enterprise.

The Innoslate License ID is a unique identifier assigned by the Innoslate software to the machine hosting Innoslate Enterprise. This ID binds the generated license to your specific machine, ensuring secure and authorized software use. The process for retrieving the License ID varies depending on whether you are performing a first-time installation or managing an existing installation. This guide provides step-by-step instructions for both scenarios and outlines how to provide the License ID during the onboarding process.

Prerequisites

The requirements for accessing the Innoslate License ID depend on your stage in the onboarding process:

For First-Time Installations

  • Administrative privileges on Windows (or other OS equivalent) to install Innoslate Enterprise.
  • Innoslate Enterprise installation files.
  • Access to a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge) to view the License ID page.

For Existing Installations

  • Access to the Innoslate Enterprise network to reach the /InnoslateLicenseID page or web interface.
  • A web browser to access the /InnoslateLicenseID page (no Admin privileges required).
  • Optional: An account with Admin privileges to access the License ID via the Admin Dashboard.

Accessing the License ID

For First-Time Installations

If you are setting up Innoslate Enterprise for the first time, follow these steps to generate and access the License ID:

  1. Install Innoslate Enterprise
    • Download the Innoslate Enterprise installation files and begin the installation on the designated machine.
    • Follow the detailed instructions in the Install section of the Innoslate Enterprise Installation Guide.
    • Complete the initial installation to ensure the Innoslate service is running.
  2. Run the Setup via Web Browser
    • If the setup page does not open automatically after installation, launch a web browser.
    • Navigate to http://localhost:8080/setup/.
    • Click Begin Setup.
    • Accept the Innoslate End-User License Agreement and click Next.
    • Select the appropriate platform type for your environment:
      • Local (Windows/macOS/Linux)
      • Docker
      • Azure
      • AWS
  3. Generate and Retrieve the License ID
    • After selecting the correct platform type, the Innoslate License ID will generate.
      • You can get an error if the platform is incorrect.
    • The page will display the unique, case-sensitive License ID for the machine. Copy or note it exactly as shown for submission.

For Existing Installations

If Innoslate Enterprise is already installed, retrieve the Innoslate License ID via your browser with or without Admin privileges:

Without Admin Privileges

  1. Open Web Browser
    • Launch a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge) on any device with network access to the machine hosting Innoslate.
  2. Access the License ID Page
    • Navigate to your Innoslate environment’s URL and append /InnoslateLicenseID. For example:
      • If on the machine hosting Innoslate, use http://localhost:8080/InnoslateLicenseID.
      • For other environments, use http://[server-address]:8080/InnoslateLicenseID, replacing [server-address] with the hostname or IP address of the host machine, accounting for any custom port or DNS configurations.
    • The page will display the unique, case-sensitive License ID. Copy or note it exactly as shown for submission.

With Admin Privileges

  1. Open Browser
    • Log in to the Innoslate Enterprise web interface using an account with Admin privileges.
  2. Access the Admin Dashboard
    • From the Navigation Bar, select the Menu option and navigate to the Admin Dashboard (v.4.10).
  3. Retrieve the License ID
    • In the Admin Dashboard, locate and click License ID in the top right corner.
    • Copy the displayed License ID exactly as shown for licensing purposes.

Providing the License ID During the Onboarding Process

During onboarding, the Innoslate Sales team may request the License ID to generate your license key, to comply:

  • Follow the relevant steps above based on whether you are performing a first-time installation or using an existing installation.
  • Use the correct server address (e.g., hostname or IP) for the /InnoslateLicenseID page. Anyone with network access to the host machine can retrieve the License ID without SuperAdmin privileges.
  • Submit the copied License ID to the sales team via email or as directed.
  • The team will generate a license file tailored to your machine.
  • Apply the received license file as instructed to complete or reactivate your Innoslate Enterprise installation.

Important Notes

  • Machine-Specific License: The License ID is unique to the host machine’s hardware and configuration. Installing Innoslate Enterprise on a different machine will generate a new License ID, requiring a new license key.
  • License ID Page Access: The /InnoslateLicenseID page is accessible to anyone with network access to the host machine, without requiring SuperAdmin privileges or local machine access.
  • First-Time Setup: For new installations, complete the initial installation and setup process before accessing the License ID via http://[server-address]:8080/InnoslateLicenseID.
  • Admin Dashboard Access: For existing installations, Admin privileges are required only if retrieving the License ID via the Admin Dashboard. The /InnoslateLicenseID method does not require any privileges.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • If the /InnoslateLicenseID or /setup/ page does not load, verify the Innoslate service is running, the correct server address is used, and ports 8080, 8005 and 443 is not blocked by a firewall or in use by another application.
    • If you cannot access the Admin Dashboard, confirm your account has Admin privileges or contact your Innoslate administrator (SuperAdmin).
