The File Metadata Viewer is a powerful feature available within the entity view of any artifact entity in Innoslate. This tool is specifically designed to provide administrators and users with detailed metadata information about files uploaded to artifact entities. By offering insights into key file properties, the File Metadata Viewer enhances document management, traceability, and compliance within projects.

When a file is uploaded into an artifact entity, a Metadata button becomes visible in the Artifact’s entity view, as shown in the first image.

Clicking this button opens a pop-up window, revealing important metadata details about the file, such as the Key, Name, Mime Type, and Project ID.

When the Metadata button is clicked, the following file details are displayed in the pop-up:

  • Key: A unique identifier generated for the uploaded file.
  • Name: The name of the uploaded file, as provided during the upload process.
  • Mime Type: The file type and format, specified as a Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (MIME) type.
    • Examples include application/pdf for PDFs or application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.presentationml.presentation for PowerPoint files.

  • Project ID: The unique identifier of the project to which the artifact and file belong.

The File Metadata Viewer is an invaluable tool for managing and understanding the files associated with your artifact entities. By providing quick access to essential details such as the file’s unique key, name, MIME type, and project ID, this feature ensures efficient file tracking and management within your projects.
